Dremel WSR polishing

I was at Lowes and I found 2 typest of polishing pads for the dremel. One is a round felt pad and the other is a cotton wheel. You guys that use these please let us know what works best for polishing the repair after its scraped.

I don't recommend either but if you are interested we probably have both in stock and I'm certain we can beat the best price you can find at Lowe's or anywhere else for that matter.

Larger diameter cotton wheel works awesome. Not sure where I got mine... had it for a long time. I also just use polish and a rag, but the dremel does it quicker and better, and only occasionally need to add polish to it.

End of my finger and a tiny piece of pit polish serves me well. We did play with power polishing in the eighties but could see no benefit, also I would suggest a greater chance of pit failure at a later date if you create some heat in there.

Same here.
But IF you're going to polish with a Dremel (or -like tool)...beware to NOT burn the Pitfill resin. You create a lot of heat using a power tool!
Like Screenman, we travelled/stepped back in time and technologie and use pit polish and a piece of card board (very old school - Novus early day's style).
Works well, costs nothing.

We tend to drink a lot of Bollinger in this house, I find the cork also works quite well when the finger is out of action. I have tried other types of cork but you just do not get the quality of shine from a cheaper wine.

Thanks guys. I just talked to Mendy at deltakits. Iam sticking to my cloth & polish. Sometimes I might have a small raised surface and I thought maybe a felt pad would smooth it down better. 99% of the time its completely smooth the way Iam doing it. Thanks again .

Currently, I polish pits by hand also. But there is no question that my dremel polishing wheel does the same job, quicker and easier... without doing any damage or heating up the pit. I only have to barely touch the pit, just a couple quick hits. It's almost instantly polished to the same level as rubbing with a rag for several seconds. I went back to polishing by hand recently, just to make my equip bag a tad simpler and lighter.... and because right now, I'm low on good batteries I have to share between my drill and polisher. Once I get around to buying some fresh batteries, or make the switch to a new brand of drills, I will make space for the polisher again. It does work awesome.

I use the piece of cardboard that you find on a new razor blade and a small amount of polish. Like Screenman, I tried using the Bollinger corks, does a good job but I began to develope shaking hands, couldn't walk in a straight line, and got all my murds wixed up. Must have been something in the cork
