Selling well here goes. Out of every 1000 people with a chip in their windshield maybe only 50 are actively looking to get it fixed, now of those some want cheap, some want reliability and some want quality. Personally I want to market to the other 950 and this is where selling comes in, I will let you others fight over the 50..

Screen is totally right is all about selling.Anybody can do good repairs but not everybody is a closer. Also a lot of people forget about being professional and doing all the small things that matter.(CUSTOMER SERVICE!)

Takes way more than doing repairs to be a successful business. In fact, the sales aspects of the business are WAY more important than the actual repairs. Doing quality repairs is not difficult with proper training and common sense. But only a select few have the sales expertise to make their business fly.

Just for the heck of it, I put my signs on my vehicle today...I got as far as the post office, and
someone was waiting to talk to me when I come out...he had an impact in his WS the size of
my fist, told him that I could not help him...about an hour later someone else was waving at
me asking me if I could take a look at her WS...I told her sorry, I am on vacation...I went
back home, and took the signs off my car....If you guys feel that you have to do hard
selling on "free WS repair" then you are doning something wrong....maybe selling to
some degree, but WS repair is not a hard core gig that requires hard selling...

If you want a true sales gig, then get into carpet cleaning, there is a lot you can sell
to a customer, not only is carpet cleaning tough work, a $75 bill can turn into $350
if you have good sales skills...but offering free ws repair, there is not a lot you can sell, but get
them to allow you to do the job, but doing a great repair, and good customer service is
important, as your client will call you back next time.

David, I live in a parish with about 45,000 people. There are 3 big companies and at least 3 or 4 solo people besides me that do windshield repair. There is only one guy I know of here that does carpet cleaning. From my point of view, selling ws repair is alot tougher. And then battling people to do repair instead of replacements makes it harder. It just depends on where you live and your competition.

David, not calling you out for a lie, could have happened. I have had signs on my vehicles for over 20 years and have never been stopped twice in a day, just doesn't happen in Georgia!!! Maybe 2-3 times a week!
Also might want to learn to use periods to end a sentence instead of dashes, up to you.

Can we see some picture of these signs, I sure never get that sort of response over here from any fully sign written vehicle I have driven. Now something I would pick up on you said free WSR, man that is taking you down a diminishing business route, lower and lower pricing for sure.

I want to see the signs too. I don't have any signage on my truck but if two people wave me down in one morning, I may change my approach.

I haven't seen anything on State Farm since April 2006 when they quit paying for repairs. Allstate is going with Safelite Solutions 1 January 2011. I don't know the pricing yet, but most rates with Safelite is $60 to $75 flat rate.
