I was a store manager of multiple Safelite locations in mid 90s.
I could tell you so many stories of how they operate, locally, regionally and call centers.
One thing though is my stores had highest buyout percentage of non SGC glass. Having started in the business working for LOF I was used to premium quality glass. Very rarely would an SGC part go in.
Subsequently I also had lowest warranty ratio, high CSI and profit ratios compared to other stores.

I use denatured alcohol to help soften laminate between glass when cutting flat lami.
You can put it on there but only for a couple seconds before it melts PVB.
I personally won't put it into break for repairs but I will occasionally wipe surface with a lightly dampened cloth to remove RainX type coatings.
