Fill the chip that originated a crack question.

I'm sorry if this is available in the forum through searching, but I wasn't able to find it..
My crack repair question is about the originating chip. I drill and pop a bullseye at the end of the crack, and fill back towards the original chip. When I get to the chip, I then try to use my bridge to fill that in nicely, but that's where I have an issue sometimes.
My resin tends to fly out the crack really easily, and not fill all of the chip! I have been using some clear tape over the chip and drilling a small hole through it and putting my injector over that.
Any advice?
