Lot of replacement tools and supplies

Well, after 6 years of 2 full-time jobs, I have decided to scale back to where I started, repair only. I am simply exhausted and I'm missing out on too much with my growing children (3 and 6 years old). The mobile replacement business was very lucrative for me and allowed my wife to stay home to car...

Re: Favorite Windshield Replacement Tool?

That ProSet tool looks terrifying! No way. I have an original Lil Buddy and it's not as great as some of the latest stuff, but it does the job just fine. No way am I suctioning something to a hood. Hope it works for those who have it.

Re: New and Self employed

If time and money are not a huge issue for you, then by all means, learn by trial and error for a few months on junk windshields. But if this is going to be your bread and butter, you should put some money out there on the front end and go to Eugene to get trained. You will learn very quickly things...

The Elite UV lamp from DK

Wow. So I sent in my old 12v light to DK last week because it was not working, even after replacing the bulb. Its probably 10 years old and has seen some use. I thought they could repair it, and they could have but they talked me into the Elite UV light, which I just received yesterday. I used it to...

Re: Urethane Cleaning

Like Kenny said, once its dry you might be able to peel it off. But if you mess with it when it is wet, you're F'd. The stain will last forever. After all, the stuff is meant to endure the elements...

Re: Looking to startup Jan 1, have some questions

To chime in on low temps: Working in Western Montana, low temps are an issue for WSR. Some of the things I do is keep my supplies inside (as opposed to in the truck). If in the elements I will run the customers car with the defrost on a medium temperature to warm the glass a bit, and if there is pre...

Re: How to increase speed? Average windshield replacement a day?

To distill Dempster's post, some things I've learned along those lines: Quality is number one and you can charge more than the competition for that. Every swingin' dick wants to put in an windshield for $150, but he won't be there next month. Guarenteed. Communication with your customer is so import...
