Re: ABC News finds unethical pricing.
True, if the customer lived outside the 20 mile radious maybe a few bucks for gasoline. But, this vehicle was taken to Safelite for a replacement. To their shop. And based on where the owner put down they lived (by zip code) the price changed from $30-$80. That's not good business sense, I don't car...

ABC News finds unethical pricing.
A certain National Company got caught today price gouging. Here is the link: http://abclocal.go.com/wpvi/story?section=news%2Fspecial_reports&id=8431980 What are your thoughts? Do you charge extra money depending on the zip code or type of vehicle it is? I've always charged the same when it comes to...

Re: The Commercials are BACK........
Ok, my 2 cents.. I've been in business 18 years.. (maybe longer, its been a long weekend). I cancelled my contract with the networks some 8 years ago. Why? Obvious reason was the fact they would pay the same $45 (back in the day) to do a job a block away as one 40 miles away. And when Safelite stopp...

Re: The Commercials are BACK........
Commercials started playing here, 2 weeks ago (again).. Face it, slow economy, advertising is your friend. But, on that note.. I've received 3 customers that claim. When they spoke with (the hollywood repair team)., they were quoted $139.00 for a repair only. $139.00?? I know they have the Ins indus...

Interesting... Thanks. I watched the video 3 times, could not fathom how or why no heat was built up especially on such thin glass.. Now, I know..

A "Dry Compound" Based Scratch Removal System??
Has anyone heard of this system? I won't mention the manufacturer but the system is called scratch pro. 4 step scratch, acid rain, graffiti removal system with very little liquid use at all (per the video). Also does not look like it generates the heat like GW's system does (again per the video as t...

Re: Ugh! Double Crack out!
I ended up stopping the two cracks and filling the rest as good as possible. Oh, I could really, really get myself in trouble here.. But, I guess I'll ask the obvious... Did you charge the customer? Did you take responsibilty for the crack out? Are you insured? Are you going to replace the windshie...

Re: What have you done to offset high fuel costs?
I haven't raised my pricing but I have added a fuel surcharge per invoice (non insurance referal). I also now take a closer look at the customer's location and weigh out if it is worthwhile before accepting the job. I try hard to group up repairs by area to make the trips worthwhile. I still do mob...

Re: Big Trucks
If its a split windshield they can usually get one side replaced for $140 total. I charge $75 to do one shot or $100 to do 2.. If its a solid window like the new International's the windshield runs $260, plus labor (2 guys) to put it in.

Re: Insurance companies, Networks, and Forum Etiquette
So now you're calling me stupid? Not such a brilliant move on your part considering I own the joint, now is it. As I have stated many times, I learned from a video, and had I had a forum to consult, I would no doubt have asked a lot of questions. That's exactly why we put this forum up, so if you d...
