Re: Windshield Repair Class

I think you nailed it Ben. We should use every opportunity to spread the word about windshield repair. Maybe we shouldn't call it a training class on how to become a windshield repairman, but a class on why windshield repair works and why you need a professional windshield repairman to repair your w...

Re: Best places to hand out business cards?

Handing out business cards to anyone and everyone is never a waste especially if they are willing to display them for you. Just my opinion here, but I don't think you're ready for that. Your last post said you don't have your tools yet, and that means you haven't practiced enough. Why are you lookin...

Re: State Farm no longer paying for chip repair

The title of this post is misleading. It should be " State Farm no longer waiving deductible for chip repair". State Farm will still pay for chip repair if the insured has zero deductible or a glass rider with zero deductible. The only thing that has changed is State Farm no longer waives the deduct...

Re: Need advice on a chip repair

Is this a test ? This should be a pretty standard repair. Little to no drilling required depending on your equipment. The short cracks will fill from the impact point, no reason to drill them. I see a little rainbow in the bullseye area, it will need a good dry-out just like all repairs do. Make sur...

Re: Getting into dealerships

I have gotten most of my dealer accounts with a free demo. You must be able to do top quality repairs to work these accounts. If you cannot do very good repairs you need to get better or stick to the budget used car lots. Who you give the demo to is also key and it changes with each dealership. Smal...

Re: drill every point of a star break?

My guess would be it wasn't dried out good enough before it was repaired. That's why you see the ends of the cracks re-opening. Moisture was left in the ends of the cracks. If a dry-out was done it's possible the glass wasn't cooled enough before filling. Either way a poor quality repair. You could ...

Re: Multiple repairs

Good to know. Thanks. Followup wuestion, do insrance companies have a limit? If you're asking about how many they pay for, most companies now pay one price no matter how many chips the customer has. There are a few companies that will pay for up to 3 repairs at a reduced price for the second and th...

Re: Most Challenging Aspect of starting a New Business

You mentioned bookkeeping. Do you provide mobile service? Tent or brick and mortar? If you are mobile how do you collect taxes for different locations, cities and counties? How do you pay them to the different jurisdictions? I am 99% mobile. No tents for me. I do have a shop, but I live out in the ...

Re: HELP Hand problems

First stop getting resin on your hands or anywhere on your skin or clothing. Clean everything you touch to get rid of resin build up. Even the steering wheel in your car. My daughter couldn't drive my car because she would get blisters on her hands from my steering wheel. I still get sloppy with the...

Re: HELP Hand problems

Mine start out as little bumps like you said, then turn into blisters, then just raw skin. I quit wearing gloves, they just seemed to make it worse. Tried many different types of gloves, still had better luck not wearing any and just being careful not to get any resin on me and washing my hands and ...
