HBCC I've never cracked a chip out by using slide hammer on original break. That being said there are additional stresses from heat and manufacturing on edge of w/s so proceed with caution. The only chips I've had grow with slide hammer are from drilling tips. I've had 17 w/s crack out in 11 years.....

I would probe the chip to check for a tight crack or moisture. Same as a windshield. My experience is the CSR will have to get a supervisor involved. The two i've done they billed as windshield repair.

Use customers garage if possible. Slow down to gently warm inside car and windshield. Pay very close attention to moisture in breaks. And...schedule later in day when it may be warmer for outside jobs.
