Re: Let's here your plan for this damage!
HBCC I've never cracked a chip out by using slide hammer on original break. That being said there are additional stresses from heat and manufacturing on edge of w/s so proceed with caution. The only chips I've had grow with slide hammer are from drilling tips. I've had 17 w/s crack out in 11 years.....

Re: Long cracks
Probably 95% of my business is chips. Chips are much quicker and you can do multiple w/s at the same time. That being said I still couldn't resist doing crack repairs. I started thinking how many cracks I was passing up on a weekly basis. Just like chip repairs you need to inform the customer the cr...

Re: Suface chip - no visible break
I would probe the chip to check for a tight crack or moisture. If it is just a pit and I'm not real busy I will offer to fill it free of charge to make it look better and reduce likelihood of wiper streaks. My business is all retail so this for me is goodwill. Take care of the customer and they will...

Repairs in HUD area
Last posts I found on this were about 10 years old. As heads-up-displays have become more common, is there anymore feedback/studies on doing repairs in this area? Recently had insurance agent friend who inquired for one of his policyholders.

Re: Is this worth getting repaired?
Yes. I'm biased but I recommend finding a repair only technician by checking review sites.

Re: Toyota prius windshield cracking out?

When I started in the business 15 years ago, the first six month...

Re: Safelite Help
In my disclaimer at bottom of invoice it states "customer will pay any fees not covered by insurance." I do the repair anyhow because experience has shown coverage will most likely be confirmed within a day or two. When "no coverage" comes back then I call them for payment. Most people are honest an...

Re: Question for Mobile Repairmen: What Do You Do in Cooler Climates?
Use customers garage if possible. Slow down to gently warm inside car and windshield. Pay very close attention to moisture in breaks. And...schedule later in day when it may be warmer for outside jobs.
